During the state of alarm the UPC will not suspend student rights in the event of non-payment of enrolment fees or add any late payment charges

Students may submit a reasoned request to delay payment of outstanding enrolment fees, which will be responded to considering the reasons stated. Car parking charges and Sports Service fees are suspended during the period of lockdown.

Apr 30, 2020

The Governing Council on 1 April approved measures to give students flexibility in paying enrolment fees for UPC courses in order to prevent putting them at a disadvantage during the period of lockdown. Therefore, the UPC will not temporarily suspend student rights in the event of non-payment of enrolment or add any late payment charges.  As long as the current state of alarm is in place, claims for debt in the event of non-payment of enrolment fees will be replaced with informative communications about outstanding payments.

Students can send a support ticket to the Academic Management Service (Demana SGA) to submit a reasoned request to delay payment of outstanding enrolment fees, which will be responded to with a new due date between 15 May and 15 June, depending on the reasons stated.

Additionally, the University has extended the period for submitting reasoned requests for interrupting studies until 30 April 2020 (new statemant). Students who wish to apply for an interruption of studies must state and justify, if applicable, the reasons why the current state of alarm prevents them from engaging with the subjects that they are enrolled in for the second semester of the 2019–2020 academic year. The measure approved provides that students must be previously informed of the possible consequences for their grants requested or awarded, so that they can decide to withdraw their applications if they deem it appropriate.

Other fees
The Governing Council has also decided to suspend some fees as of the date on which UPC buildings were closed. As long as the state of alarm is in place, this applies to the following fees:

Sports Service fees: All types of membership fees (sports centre, gym or multiple Barcelona facilities) for the Sports Service are suspended.

Car parking charges: Monthly charges for car parking in the Vèrtex, Gaia and RDIT buildings are suspended.

If you have been charged any of these, the UPC will offset the amount in the next billing period.
